  • how to remove silicone sealer??

Hiya folks - quick question for those in the know..
How do i remove silicone sealer - apart from scraping??
I've got some of those rechargeable decking led lights. I replaced the batteries a few years back - and sealed every possible leak path with clear silicone.
The batteries are about shot now so replacing them again - but the silicone is a bu66er to remove from the aluminium housings.
Is there any old grannies tricks to removing silicone (lemon jucie or teabags etc) - B&Q sell something which may well be just lemon juice and tea bag gell in a can!!!
    Cheers
    Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

I have heard that petrol works, but not tried it myself.
