  • Sad news...

I have to report the passing of Maxy, the Apache family hamster today at around 6pm at the grand old age (for a hamster) of two and a half.

He was put to sleep after a short fight against a tumour of some sort, but quickly went downhill since Friday. He'd stopped eating or drinking, and hadn't opened his eyes for a few days.

He was my confidante when I got in from my thursday night beers, listening without complaint to my my ramblings. He was a worthy hamster, and will be sorely missed. God bless you, fella.

I was tempted to send him out into the middle of a local pond, in a blaze of glory in an old airfix battleship. A fitting end.

However, it seemed better to allow him to slip away under anaesthetic. Funny how even a small rodent can become part of a family.
