grizzly claws are diabolical on the road, and in the wet, but then, what muds aren't? I'd recomend finding a package deal for a set of muds on steels and keeping a set of road tyres too if you can, or at least keeping the option to stick a set of road tyres back on your alloys in 6 months time.
KL71s are probably the best compromise between AT / full on mud, but they're by no means brilliant at either.
Cooper discoverer STTs are pretty good in the mud, and a hard compound so wear well on the road, but again ain't too hot in the wet. Probably better than the grizzlys though.=========

Been there, bought the T-shirt.
Most aggressive muds (and I dont cound KL71s or BFG mud pattern types in this) are shit on the road, and make journeys a real trial because of the noise and buzz through the steering / chassis.
I'm with Nero. Get a decent set of ATs (which will do you most, if not all of the time if just laning) and a cheap set of remould muds / rims if you think you might get REALLY stuck / damage them on some mental offroad site.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

steve just thinking i got a set (4) of scruffy standard alloys you can have if you want em to put a 2nd set of tyres on, or steels should be about 30 quid a corner.
Or give these guys a call http://www.4x4tyres.com/index.php?sh...ofile=31x10.50 i got a package from them a few years ago, (when they were 4x4accessoriesandtyres still)and paid something like 40 quid extra on top of the set of tyres for four steels and valves, fitting and balancing.=========
