    its ok

Hi, as you state its a shed, i take it is a wooden one, you do not need planning, technically if you put down a concrete base you have to comply with building regs, unless it was already there, then you just put it up. If you do a search of your local councils website the upto date info should be there,
Its all to do with being a portable building. Best i can do as i have not done any building in the UK for 3 years and am a little out of touch. Just call them and ask as well, they are normally quite helpfull.

i'm not sure if it matters if its a wooden structure any more. Las year I built a wooden garage for my surf which is roughly 6x4m and it's next to a neighbours property that has a similar construction. Thought it would be OK then a couple of months later got a letter saying the council had been out, taken pictures of it and if I didn't get retrospective planning permission i'd have to take it down again
Suppose different councils have different policys though?

Not more than 30 square metres, or 4m high at roof apex and takes up no more than a third of your garden. No plannng required.

I agree with Yoshie, but still worth checking with planning, its all down to how they interpret the regulations, its better to check and get a name, that way if you do get complaints and the council comes round you have covered yourself. Anyone in your road or vicinity can complain, and people normally do.
I learnt early on to always cover myself, that way it does not give you stress and costs dealing with an over zealous council official whoose main aim in life is to be god.
When it comes to dealing with councils and buildings etc, the more info and names you have of council officials who have said its ok the better.
              Hope this helps.

                Hello George

Look on RMBC Website , remember we are in Socialist stateof south yorkshire they make up the rules as they go along !

(just to be safe and all that)

I've just had a look on our DMBC rules and you would be ok here but set your mind at ease etc

Nice job by the way !

Scrap what I just said. As long as your eaves height is below 2.5m and your roof isn't above 2.5 within 2m of the boundary, you're fine. Guidelines are here:

Yep. Once you go past those guidelines it'll vary between Councils, but that's the rule for the whole country.
