    Can anyone explain the difference between...
    a) a wireless router, such as this..

    and

    b) a wireless modem router like this......

    My current one is playing up big time, so i'm looking to replace it.
    Got this far, now i dont know which i should be looking at??

    The first one also requires a modem. The second one has it built in.

      First one is just a network connection point, second one also has a broadband modem built in.

        i need one too,for my ps3 but im even more clueless lol,ive got virgin broadband(fibre optic cable if it makes any diffrence)that plugs straight into my pc at the mo,but i want ps3 connected wireless?what do i need?(sorry for hijack)

          You will have a black box that plugs into your wall on one cable and the PC on another. You need a wireless CABLE router and plug that into one of the sockets where the cable from the PC goes. Make sure it's a cable router, not a broadband router.

            Cheers guys, that makes sense, couldn't find which my current one is as the labels peeled off.
            I need a modem/router.
