It's just another stealth tax upon the working man,
they are trying to recover what has been lost by the
reductions on the cost of fuels, etc and VAT how
generous of them eh??
They may have realised they can't keep taxing the same
thing evey time money starts to run out. Or we won't
vote for them next time round!!!! (might be getting thru)
But I doubt it. Never mind, we can just keep paying up, we
allways do don't we?.

We have a Parliament, this 'Alcohol Tax' was mooted a while back. I don't understand the second part of your post, can you elaborate please?

That always happens, but this one is different. This tax is on the Alcohol content. In general, alcopops have low alcohol content, so may go down in price, spirits have high alcohol content so will go up in price.

This tax is being pushed through as a way to cut down on binge drinking (read 'under age' drinkers). How many under age or young drinkers out there drink Gin or Vodka? But, the sales of spirits are higher, so more dosh for the government?

Most new taxes are tried up here first (poll tax being the most famous), when is a few months back. Only made the papers at the end of February.
