Been looking at a Jaguar XJ 3.2 V8 in black today...

Nice!! Very pretty car.. plenty of power

Actually throws you back in your seat... Do you know how longs its been since i felt that!??

Anyway, It has a dent in the rear wing which is a shame but it means its cheap!! Im in the running for it an i hope i win!

Because if i do win it cheap it may mean im able to just leave the truck at my grans or something an keep hold of it!! But we'll see.

Either way a Jaguar XJ is bl**dy nice to be behind the wheel of... An i only found 6 grey hairs when i got back out!

Now don't listen to any negative comments in this thread, just go and get what YOU want not what people say you should have.

            Thats the one!

Real nice car.. nothing seems out of place for the MOT so not too concerned about that at all. Could do with a service but thats not an issue either.

a gallon of filler in the wing an im sorted!

              Cheers mate!

Yeah, 3.2! I've been told MPG wise theres not much difference so if this one goes out of hand i'll be over the 4.0 executive in a blink of an eye! As long as its black im pretty easy.

It ticks all my boxes for what i want!

              Black - Yes!
              powerful - Yes!
              30ish mpg - Yes!
              Dented - Yes!

ohh wait.. dented wasn't on the list!

              but still..

It will... its worse in the flesh then the pictures show. Im glad i've seen it otherwise if i just turned up i'd be pi$$ed.

But, I have mate who works at a garage with a bodyshop.. my Truck mechanic is a Jaguar fan an knows everything about Jags so maintenance/repairs should be easier to figure out.

I'll get it straight down for an MOT!

The only thing I would say on a pre 2000 Jag is that there is a known problem with the engines - I can't quite remember what it is (have a look on www.honestjohn.co.uk) but it is something to do with materials used in the valves I think, that Jag sorted after the MY2000 cars. If it comes to me I'll edit this - but I had a mate with a MY1999 XJ and he ended up paying a fortune getting it sorted, but then got rid and got a MY2002 XJR...which was nice.

It was Nickosil (sp?!) linings.. breaking down over time..

I've read on a few jaguar sites that if the engines are still running now then they should be ok..

I'm going in if it stays cheap. If it stays cheap then its a slight possibility i might be able to keep the truck..

if not its gone! theres a few 2001 black XJ8's that float my boat!

                          That's the one

I've just looked it up in Glass's Guide - 98/99 plate V8 3.2 Sport Auto, 93K miles should trade around £1,400, retail £4,300 - less adjustments for mileage and condition should retail around £3,000 trading at just over £1,000....

                            Cheers for those details mate!

I'm hoping it doesn't go too much above £1000. Im happy to go over that but not too much. It does need work but im happy to try that if it means the surf is saved... I know i'll regret selling it at somepoint!
