awesome looking dog! losing a dog sucks. last october i had to put down my sheepdog i'd had for 15 1/2 years. i was truly gutted.
as soon as my fiance moves here from the states we're looking for a place with a garden and then i'm gonna get a staff. if it's a bitch it'll be called remey, and if it's a dog- harley.

quite rare apparantley, just found this
The rare leonberger is just two years old - but has already won 35 rosettes at dog shows across the country.
Otto, who weighs 10 stones, collected five top prizes in one go, when he took part in a dog show organised by Dewsbury Dog Training Club at the town's Crow Nest Park.
He won the prize for best in show, as well as coming first in the classes for best working dog, any variety pedigree dog, best maxi dog over 20in tall and being the judges' favourite.
Owner Susan Elliot, of Honley, has had her pet since he was eight weeks old.
She said the leonberger breed originated in Germany and was still quite rare. Otto is one of only two in Huddersfield.
"The man who bred the leonberger wanted a dog that looked like a lion," said Susan.
"The leonberger was a cross between a St Bernard and a Newfoundland, but is now a recognised breed in its own right."

Your pictures caused a big round of AAAhhhhhhhhh's in the Kitesurf household. Will you be going for a land cruiser now? Surely not enough room in a Surf.
        It's only a hobby!

Fit a harness to the Leonburger and get it to tow the surf - then you will have an outfit with great traction and save on diesel !

From you or the dog ????

He is georgeous.. I wanted a 'Newfie' but not fair to have doggies when I'm at work all day... they are fabulous in water... used for rescue, incredible swimmers. If this dog has the same desire to get in the water perhaps you could hang on to him and do some water skiing .!!
Had enough... going to live in Spain....

Don`t know about leonberger - it`s certainly going to be a big berger, that`s for sure. Congrats on your new addition.

Oh no , my wife , Tam , has seen the piccys and guess what .... she wants one . She saw the puppy pics first , but now seen the full grown size and is not sure . I am sure , no way , well not at least until our 2 lovely cats depart this earth .

I had a dog as a pet when I was a kid and found the dog walking a bind . It would mean less pointless posting on here as I would have to take that great thing out for a walk . Plus a shovel and wheelie bin to pick up the massive t**ds it would leave behind .
