Sleeping in back........

Hey guys, long time no post....
Been extra ordinaryily busy recently with my newly aquired hobby, surfing!

To stop me from selling my surf and buying a townace royal lounge (Saw one the other day and it looks like someone took a regular lounge and built a van around it!!) Does anyone else ever sleep in the back of their surf, and know any tricks for making doing so a little more comfortable. I was thinking of building in a small plinth to bring the base height up to the wheel arches to give that little more area, but I also struggle with the length a bit....

Any thoughts from anyone...?

did it a few weeks ago... couple of duvets in the back... one to sleep on and one to sleep under or those foam camping mats would work well to cushion the stick-outy bits too. Put the rear heater on to warm the back up a bit.

In the morning, flip the back down and brew up on the tailgate.

i found it much warmer than my MR2 ever was (!!), but then the MR2 is glass on all sides.

Yeah had thought of that, but for me and the missus, would have to be a double, and I figured the wheel arches would get in the way.... no?

Air Mattress fits perfectly in back I too am a kitesurfer and sleep in the rear regularly with fiance - Great laugh.

Best to park next to mates tent. If make noise, extend 3/4 inch pipe from rear window and do the obvious ! Dont even need to get wet to go to the loo ! lol.

Your wife's only tiny!!! There's plenty of room in the back for two - double airbed sounds good, I've used a mattress out of an old caravan before - with a duvet - you're snug as anything, even got lights and a radio!!



PS - I've still got that wheel sitting here for you when you want it!

Yeah but somehow she seems to take up most of the room!!!sleeps in a M shape, LOL

Sorry I didn't get back to you bout the wheel, totally fogot to be honest!
I think im gonna be ok without it, the guys at the tyre place managed to bash out the rim on my wheel ok enough for it to be a spare. Hope ive not caused inconvinience.... :-\

After 2 people pulling out, looks like we may finally be on the move soon too! WooHooo, Driveway finally - Bring on the surf mods!!

Have a look at this for a more involved sleeper arrangement (involves removing one of the back seats) I think the guy that wrote this must be quite tall. There are quite a few pics on the post so a good broadband connection will be a bonus.

Due to my hobby I'm going to spend a lot of the summer weekends at various places where the option is usually sleeping in a tent or to drag the caravan out. The other weekend I had a long haul and didn't fancy dragging the caravan all that way so at night I dropped all the seats, lined the back with sheepskins and got under a duvet. Far more comfortable and warmer than any tent ! Plus I can have the radio and telly on. It's so nice and cosy that don't think I can be bothered to drag the caravan around this year ! It'll save me a fortune on diesel ! What a versatile motor !

Just on the back of this thread, re sleeping in the back...

Anyone know how hard it would be to put a switch in the rear to activate the rear window from inside?
How about without the ignition?
