Apart from being a wee 2 cylinder steam engine.

It's at the Glenlee exhibition in Glasgow, but nobody who was there on Saturday seemed to know what it is or where it came feom.

I saw one of those a few years back (on the telly) it wasn't the same as this one. This looks more like a wee static engine.

Two-cylinder compound expansion marine steam engine
This is a model of a fore and aft type compound steam engine. It is the kind of engine that had marine applications in powering tug boats, trawlers and similar craft. It has a fully working Stephenson link motion for reversing and controlling the point of cutoff of both cylinders. Rudy's construction series on building this fore and aft compound ran in Live Steam magazine in the issues from March through Nov 1988.

You'd be better off with a non-steam stationary engine to restore. You'll give yourself a whole lot of grief going down the steam route.

I like steam though, it's my 'other' area of expertise. Will get an old single or twin cylinder stationary if I can't find a steam one over the summer.
