you could replace it with those self adhesive bitumin backed aluminium sheets used by car hi-fi fans. won't fall off - reflect heat and sound proofing all in one!!

I ripped mine out the first week I got my truck (May 2003)
No issues with paint damage besides, the bonnet can dissipate heat better if it's not insulated.

Took mine off about three years ago and the paint aint burnt

leave it off and let the bonnet get hot. that should give the neighbours cat a nice surprise and keep the paw print off!

I haven't had the blanket in there for a couple of years. No paint issues.
