  • 1996 2.7 petrol mpg?

    just a quickie, what sort of mpg from a 2.7 petrol surf 1996, the owner reckons around town 30 mpg seems a bit over the top thought diesel would have been better, anyone got the 2.7 petrol.

    12.2 litres/km for an auto, 11 for a manual. You'll have to do the maths....You should, however, factor in the lower cost of petrol and the fact it'll react when you press the throttle. You should also factor in that it won't be much cop at towing, but you should also factor in that there's an after-market supercharger available for it

          Well Ive done the maths and Im far for impressed. It would need to be great at towing, for the tanker youd need behind you. A vehicle that can only travel for 1km on 12 litres of fuel wont be much use. Thats the sort of consumption Id expect from a battleship at full speed.

            Well, erm, yes, that would be rather a lot of fuel. Should have read '12.2 litres per 100km'.

                  haha i was just ordering a dodge viper to save on fuel, boeing are a quite happy their 747,s do better than a surf on a long run......
