  • diff breathers

    found diff breather kit on ebay for landrover series 1-2and 3 for £11.99 but will it fit surf? can anyone help .

    should do, but check with him that they are 1/8" BSP fittings.

    Or go for these and source some 6mm OD pipe elsewhere.

    don't spose there's any reason you couldn't use 4mm pipe, in which case that guy has everything you need to do both diffs for about £6 -

      Am I right in saying there are 4 breathers? One on the Gearbox, one on the transfer case and one on each axle?

        i believe so, yes. Not sure of the fittings on the gearbox and transfer case though, most people don't seem to bother with them as they are in less prone positions, would say you've gotta pretty much end up stuck in deep water for several minutes before you stand much chance of drawing water in to the box and t-case. In which case you'll know there's a fair chance you've done it and check/change the fluid asap. The original breather fittings have a kind of one way valve on, which should shut if suddenly plunged into cold water, but they're gonna be as old as the truck and starting to get tired or dirty and not work as well as they should.

              all the breathers are the same thread i could only find 3
              the 2 axels and gearbox
              the gearbox is right on the very top you can just feel it with ya fingers
