..I don't think mine has this. I intend to uprate the rear springs at some point so I'm not too bothered.

the tems system is the "toyota electronic modulated suspension" there is a motor on top of the suspension struts which either winds in or out a damper to restrict the amount of movement in the shock absorber thereby creating a harder or softer ride, i have it on the soarer (which has air suspension and can be raised or lowered) which is labeled normal and sport.
damn posted twice how do you delete it.Last edited by soramad; 4 February 2009, 23:03.

Me? That is what it does.Originally posted by adpsimpson View PostHijacking again (my favourite hobby, apparently).
What does the setting actually do? And please don't say 'makes the suspension harder or softer' - Sancho I'm looking at you! I'd assumed it was something to do with the torsion bars, but don't the hairdressers have it too, and the have nice comfy springs all round?
There is a solenoid on top of the shocks which is operated by the switch and the adjustment does 'something' to them to alter the bouncebackability of the shocks. It doesn't alter springs of torsion bars.

The switch should be easy to see and if fitted an indicator should light up on the dashboard.
The switch activates an electronic thingamabob on top of each shock absorber.... making the suspension harder or softer
It does make a difference to the ride.

either to the right of the steering wheel below the air vent, or in the centre console behind the gear selector.
Not all have it, but most seem to. Could have been removed by a previous owner if the shocks have ever been replaced with aftermarket ones or something, or could have never been fitted i spose.

hard /soft suspension??
I've only had my surf a few weeks but love it. It has performed brilliantly in the snows.
Anyway....I've heard talk of suspension settings. I don't think mine has this... where is the control / button and do some not have this?Tags: None
