It's not just a Northern thing, you know. There are plenty of sh1tholes and idle feckers down South too.

I know, just seems the only time they ever interview them on telly, they always have a northern accent! Maybe that's the media's way of highlighting the 'great' north south divide!

The media, being biased? How could one think such a thing.

No, it's that the northern ones have just about learned semi-coherent speech whilst the southern ones are still stuck with grunting and pointing.

highlighting a point made earlier...if you've worked for years and paid into the system then become unemployed, you will struggle to get any help - including the jobseekers allowance/dole money. i know this because i signed on, on the 24th november and still haven't received any payment from them. but i'm still expected to go up there every 2 weeks, which i can't stop doing because it keeps you on the system for your national insurance.

if i hadn't got a few quid put by i'd be in some serious shit now.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

I had the same after my accident.I was paid 6 months full pay then it stopped.I went to the social and asked for help and was told there's nothing they can do.If it wasn't for the M.I.L helping us out with the mortgage payments then we would probably of been looking a repoccession
If i was a immigrant then i would of had everything possible given to me

WOW!!!, I really started something there.

When I was put on a 3 day I had been claiming working tax
credits, (38 hours) and I foolishly told them my circumstances
had changed, and was told because I was now working less
than 30 hours a week no more credits!!!
Phoned Job Center to ask if there was any help for me, a fat NO.
Said to lady on phone, if I had an accent, a criminal record, 6 kids,
and was sexual deiviant, I'd be OK then? she said YES. I hung up!!!

                          Gman

The system is not supposed to support those that work and pay a mortgage and try to lead their lives without state interference.

It's there for those that don't do either and receive state handouts and also provide jobs for those that administer the handouts.
Both more likely to vote labour as their income is dependant on them being in power.

There's minimal help anyone that's ever worked, paid in and needs to make a claim.

Sadly, very very true, after 42 years of graft, nothing.
