  • petrol in the deisel tank!

What a tw*t , I put just over 2 liters of petrol in my fuel tank! (diesel engine) then realized and filled it up with diesel.

It is running OK, I'm not sure whether to keep topping it up with diesel for a few weeks or run it near empty then fill.

I have always wondered what sort of idiot puts the wrong fuel in the tank... and now I know!
If it can be broken it can be fixed

It'll be fine, don't worry about it (as long as it was only 2 litres).

2 litres in a Surf tank will do no harm if you brim it.

I used to add the odd litre or 2 in winter when running veg to thin it

2l in a full tank really ain't going to notice a lot, but i'd top up when you've used 1/4 of a tank and keep the tank 3/4 full or more for a month or so just to flush it all through. Obviously depending on your mileage, if you're doing a couple of tanks a of fuel a week then you'll only need to do it for a couple of weeks.

I always put petrol in my diesel tank, the truck seems to perfom much better for it too.

Really? What ratio would you recommend?

                No ratio, just 100% petrol.

Unless it'll fit in the tank, no. I'm just going to fill up with petrol, like BUSHWHACKER said. Will get an instant power boost

I always fill mine with petrol.... runs really well on the stuff..... kind of makes sense, because it is a petrol V6
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Truck drivers used to put 1 gallon of petrol in for every 10 diesel to stop it freezing. That was before the no freeze diesel was about. Just don't put too much in too often as he valve seats will burn out, but a bit now and again will help to flush out your engine. We put some in the Bedfords we use now and again

When I was on the tools most drivers did that. The idiots put the petrol in after the diesel froze, they then did the other thing mot drivers did back then, they lit a wee fire under the tank to thaw it out!
