  • Memory Map And Com Ports

Bought myself a cheap little IBM Thinkpad to run Memory Map on. When I went to install my Bluetooth dongle, for the Bluetooth GPS receiver, Memory Map is asking which com port I'm using?

Can you configure a USB port to be seen as a com port, or am I missing the plot?

As always, thanks for any advice (or sarky comments) given.

I had a similar problem when using my add-on wired GPS reciever with my NAVMAN. ended up trying a combination of every com port and every baud rate setting until I hit the one.
I would have thought the thinkpad would auto detect the dongle and configure itself? is there a parameter somewhere in the "settings" section for "auto detect" devices? Or could you contact the dongle supplier for the correct config' info.
    Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

Can you not see the Com Port in Device Manager ?

I can see 2 bluetooth com ports on this PC

Thanks guys, you both pointed me in the right direction. Have managed to Google some info and hopefully should have the GPS up and running via Bluetooth shortly.
