we used them for cabs. they went on forever, and when they needed fixing it was easy-peezy-lemon-squeezy. they had miles more space in them than the so-called family sized saloons and hatches that ford made for the next 10 years after that until the 3rd shape mondeos came out.

some guy i know in totton had 2 2.3 diesel sierra's as taxis....and they had real starship mieage on them

we didn't bother with the diesels until around the time i started driving too. before then (from about 1985-1998ish) the price of petrol meant nothing coz the cabs were raking in the dough. in our family business was my 2 older brothers and one of their wives driving, my older sister on the phones/radio and her husband driving part time, my dad driving, and then me and my younger sister done the radios and phones at weekends and after school. happy days. its all gone pete tong now and the jobs cack.

as above 2.9,cheap caue its much slower than the sierra/escort,but for a ford sooooo comfy,but if i remember right mpg is bout 18

i had a 3ltr senator expolice car stright 6
lasted me 2 years the engine out lived the car
best car i ever owned
rallyed it
off roaded it
top speed off the clock
took 34 miles to red line it in 5th gear what a buzz that car was
good on fuel if steady
but with lead feet cost about tenner to do 30 mile
its safe to say i will never own a fast car again i will not buy one
i will lose my licence or kill myself if i do
iam one of them people that loves going fast
now i do it off road its safer all round
