  • Sticking rear window

I've finally entered the realm of surf-owners by replacing the rear exhaust section and attempting to fix a sticking rear window... Didn't have much success with the rear window, it's a bit smoother now but no faster, guess it needs a new motor (Richard, you get my email?)

Anyway so long as the motor fits that's maybe the least of my worries, as the runners are badly corroded. I've stuck a picture below. The window seal must be letting in a lot of water as the whole runner mechanism was soaking wet (it's been raining again/still). I've used liberal amounts of grease and WD40 on each bit of the mechanism but obviously it needs more than that.

So, should I be replacing the seal? Are the runners cleanable, or should they be replaced? The rest of the mechanism isn't so bad. Thanks all

Could try removing the window and cleaning the runners with a wire brush bit in a drill.

Cool, will try that. Is there anything I can do to stop water leaking down the window? Would replacing the seal help? Or is there any way to tighten it in against the glass?

Yes replace the seal. Did mine the same time I replaced the mech. Main dealer for the seal. Not too expensive If I remember right. I think I posted the price I paid somewhere on this site, but search isn't working for me right now.
