  • Looking for Gen 3 Manual (Handbook)

In my first post to this nuthouse (and yes, I've been warned to watch out for the squirrel), biohazard told me about this resource for downloading Hilux manuals...

    http://forums.bauchan.org/portal/downloads.php?dcid=16

Unfortunately, the pdf for the Gen 2 manual can't be opened. Or at least, I can't after two attempts and I see no way to change its permissions.

Does anyone have a Gen 3 manual or handbook? I don't usually read them when I get a car (I'm more the "step on gas-car goes" type), but the Hilux really has me intrigued and I'd like to learn as much as possible about it.

Sorry if I missed this in the forums. I think a lot of us newbies would really benefit from a PDF of this. If not, does anyone have a Gen 3 maintenance schedule (I assume that's what I need, with a 1999 SSR-X)?

    Thanks very much.

    All the best,
    Ken

I assume you're running Windoze? One of the chaps on here should be able to give you an idea on changing perms.

Couldn't find a 3rd gen manual, wishbone (I'd rather have one). I'm using a Mac, MattF. And ian2144, that was a great lead...

          http://www.roughtrax4x4.com/index.ph...=0&term=manual

But they don't seem to ship outside of the U.K./Ireland. It wouldn't have arrived here in this millennium, in any event. ;-)

wishbone, I'll PM you my e-mail address.

Thanks a million, all. If anyone has a PDF for 3rd gen, please do let me know. I understand the 2nd gen isn't all that diff, except for the diff. :-)

            If you're on a Mac, (assuming OSX+)? from a terminal type: chmod 755 [/path/to/zipfile]

You should be able to extract it then.

Thanks very much, found Gen 3 Manual

Thanks very much, MattF. That's a bit beyond me. But I did find the handbook at Amazon UK. It wasn't in stock, but unlike other locations selling a hard copy, they will ship here.

A Gen 3 PDF of the user's manual/handbook would have been ideal, but that just doesn't seem to be available online.

              Thanks again,
              Ken

Could you do me a favour, perchance? I've popped the file here too:

                        http://outgoing.bauchan.org/surf_2nd...ers_manual.zip

Could you just see if you can download and extract/view that one okay?

What's that old saying regarding imitation?

Get your head stuck in the MAN pages Wodder's. They'll do you a world of good.

Gen 2 Handbook Still Wont' Open On Mac

Thanks very much for trying, Matt (geek or nerd, you're the best both ways!).

I downloaded from your URL, but I get the same message when trying to open...

"The file “surf_2ndgen_owners_manual.pdf ” could not be opened because you do not have appropriate access privileges."

When I "get info," it says that I have "no access" and it does not provide the ability to change that.

                          Thanks again,
                          Ken
