how does a L200 compare to a 3rd gen Surf

i did a wee search and only found a few posts on the L200 on here and so far nothing great was said

i know someone selling an 04 warrior L200 in silver with 67k lots of mot and tax, well he is actually trading it in and getting £4200 for it and i have the chance of maybe getting it for that price.

i have a 3rd gen surf 3.0td 1996, its a great 4x4, i love the look of the warrior pickup but i have never driven one, i was wondering if anyone can give an honest opinion of how the L200 compares to the surf 3rd gen

as much as i love my surf the L200 is 8 years younger and more modern amd has leather

i just thought i would give the L200 some consideration im not looking to change otherwise.

also mpg does not matter as it will be running on veg just like my surf.

my mate's on his second he loves them, but don't thrash it he blew his first 04 up apparently the engines arn't very strong

is it possible to thrash a diesel

i thought the tax would be an issue too but they are classed as light commercial vehicles and so only ordinary tax to pay

well u learn sumthin every day!and yes u can thrash a diesel,best way is flooring it when cold,my boss is an expert in it,he went thru 3 heads on his paj doin it,he now has a vw tourag v6 diesel,i cant wait lol

they drive ok realy nice on motoways
but crap off road in my opinon
and very slidey on the road wet corners are a night mare in a L200

Yep, very light and stiff back end and a bit wayward til you get used to it (or load it up). Aren't they leaf sprung at the back? Engines seem a bit crude and noisy (very tappety and rattly) and long journeys aren't as nice as they are in the Surf. I used to use a Warrior of around that age regularly at work on and off road, and once drove it to Southend and back from Malvern, which was a BIG chore!

However, for that kind of money with leather interior I think I'd be tempted too.

yes its a good price esp for a 04 model with the leather, i believe they are leaf sprung in the rear. My main travelling is 25 miles each way to my work but any journeys i do rarely last more than an hour.

the guy runs 100% veg, he has a wee tank in the back for his home made bio-diesel to start and warm up then switches the valves over to run 100% veg.

I'm looking at getting one in July ish sometime, want something a bit bigger than a surf to try to earn a few quid with. But i am looking at a slightly older one, 2000/01, as i wont be able to afford a newer one.

you wont have a problem as there is plenty of them for sale, are you needing it for business
