I stuck some glass on the front of my camera once, was a bugger taking photos with a double glazed window on it though .

Silly question time. I see 2nd and 3rd gen mentioned on here, I assume these refer to the imported Surfs? If so, where does my 4 runner sit,is it 3rd or 2nd gen?

I ask as when I see bits for sale i`m not sure which models I should be looking at.Or have I got it all wrong and the 4 Runner is on its own?

      Sorry for the thicko question.

Your pics have gone from the first post in the thread, so tell us the year again?

95-96 was the year they went from 2nd to 3rd gen.
Have you got a side shot?

Yours would be a 2nd gen - I think that was the only one they brought into the UK through the retail route.

The Four Runner is basically a Surf adapted for the UK market. The Surf (which is a Japanese import) normally has a lot more extras as standard.

I'm sure I've read on here somewhere before that parts are interchangable, but as always I'll leave it open for a definite answer from the experts.

As far as I am aware Toyota didn't bring a '3rd gen' Four Runner out in the UK.

                  Thanks to you all.

I will take a side shot and post it if that helps answer my query.

Are the majority of Surfs not automatic, or have I got that wrong as well?...........

Majority of Surfs in the UK appear to be automatic, with manual's being harder to find.

Does your tailgate open downwards (2nd Gen) or upwards (3rd Gen)

His is a 4runner Andy so its got the drop down tailgate.Although its a 96 its still a drop down mate
Also a mojority or all parts from the kzn130 surf will fit the 4runner

See, I told you an expert would be along shortly. Richard (Stormforce) and Terry (Lord Lucan) have stripped more Surfs than Simon Cowell has had number 1 hits!
