  • What a bunch of muppets !

I have just renewed my BT Broadband account (at at least £11.50 cheaper).

I asked BT to deliver the router to work, which they agreed to do.

I get home tonight and there's the router on the doorstep in plain view facing everyone who ascends the stairs.

Marked on the address label is the following:

SAFE PLACE---Please leave out of sight/under cover (eg.with neighbour)
xxxxxxxxxxx, LEAVE OUT OF SIGHT AND UNDER COVER
I guess BT and Royal Mail cannot understand customer orders
Look out Eastbourne, the Pandas are coming !

BT can only understand you if you use fluent Indian. (in case you can't guess big fall out, no longer with them, cancelled account, and then got debt collecting agency contacting me over cancelled and cleared account)

They tried the debt collection stuff with me as instead of cancelling the package they provided a different one, after I'd gone to a cheaper better source, (SKY)

Why anyone stays with BT I dont know, they cost more than any other provider then if you have a BB problem they are the most useless at helping out not even giving me my log in password after buying a new router but expecting payment all the while I couldn't get online. They even billed me for both dial-up and broadband packages for months after trying to upgrade, at the time it was costing us around 30 quid a month before we had even made a phone call, calls to their helpline were useless as we couldn't seem to get through to them why we wouldn't need their surftime package after taking out their broadband anytime one, a ####ing nightmare to say the least. They're ALL the same I'm afraid .......

In general the services they provide are robust and reliable so their support setup is pretty minimal compared with the size of their customer base As a result when things go wrong they are hard pressed to resolve issues quickly.

I was thinking about upgrading my Virgin media (NTL) package a little while ago but between the current economic conditions and the likelyhood of them fawking it up I decided to leave it alone !

Life is too important to take seriously !

I've been with NTL/Virgin since the dial-up days and only just recently started having problems.Been paying for their XL broadband package (£37.99 up to 20Mb connection ,but for the last 8 months or so it has barely reached 5Mb, keep calling their cust.services and they keep telling me it's my fault, then last night while Abdul(real name) was on the phone going thru all his excuses and remedies he then decided that as i had 3 pc's running thru a router that this was causing the problem, whilst on the phone i took everything except my pc out of service and connected directly to their modem...............still no different. As a last resort he then said "well sir, it seems that there is a fault in your area so we can't do anything until this has been sorted" So i replied " so you are telling me this 'fault' has been going on for 8 months......He then hung up on me

Needless to say i'm now looking for a better provider

                cheers
                Paul

I've been with Virgin for a year in Leamington with no issues at all - the guy came today and collected my modem and set top box, as I cancelled the service 'cos I don't use it anymore..

We ordered BT for here, and the HDN (Home Delivery Network) dude just threw the box with the HomeHub in it over the back gate onto a concrete path...still worked though - then it started dropping the wireless, so I phoned BT, they directed me to a website where I downloaded (automatically) a remote desktop (Citrix) client, then they set about reconfiguring the wireless channel - which I could have done myself if they'd told me that was the issue...and it's been fine ever since!

BT are rubbish, rude and largely unhelpful, regardless of how much you spend and if you are a business or residential user, but they can and do fix things that are wrong, and will provide compensation (sometimes) and are better than most smaller companies at their products and pricing, some companies are good at being nicer to you though, but BT are a lot better than they have been in recent years - they are still a pile of old toss though....
