  • Premium Rate Phone Numbers

I've just had my bill in from Virginmedia and nearly sh*t a brick when I found out I had been charged £33 for two premium rate calls that niether myself nor my wife remember making!

My kids are grown up and have left home so I can't blame them. The calls were to 2 similar numbers, one at 3 in the afternoon and 1 at 4.15. The first one was for 15 minutes and cost £20 the second for 10 minutes and cost £13!

Virginmedia cannot tell me who the numbers belong to (no, but they expect me to pay for the b@stards)!

Do any of you guys know how I can find out whose numbers they are?

I'm more angry with Virginmedia for their apathetic attitude than anything else!

No way, av just googled my own number and found a site ( that i have never used before ) is advertising my old bike...

bearing in mind i sold this bike on the autotrader about 18 months ago this other site ( cars4sale4u.com ) has taken my bike and advertised it on their site with both my contact number on screen...

        ...

Are they allowed to do that ? ... It says

(Cars4sale4u.com is an internet based service which gives car owners/sellers the opportunity to advertise their cars for FREE for 3 months on our website. All a seller needs to do is to email the details of their cars to sales@cars4sale4u.com and a text only advert of your car will be produced and included in our website)

av never emailed them, they stole the add off the trader ?

        ...

Googling the number didn't bring up anything Rod. But I Googled 'Premium Number Search' and it came up with this www.phonepayplus.org.uk.

That site works a treat so if you ever need to find a premium rate number try it.

(BTW it wasn't a porn number!)

I just googled my number and found it on the web !! I am ex direct and no spam number withheld and all that stuff...bugger

I also had a problem with 090 numbers so had BT bar my number from dailing them, back in the days of dail up and maldialers.!!

Sure it wasn't a PC helpline or some such thing.

...I ordered some bits from Overclockers which I then had to phone up and get changed as a graphics card was sh@gged.

...it was only when I got my company mobile phone bill that I saw we had been charged £20 or so for me sitting on hold waiting to be served.

No, some b@stard loan company! We can't understand this. I wasn't at home for the first call but I was for the second. My wife was out of the house for both of them. Virginmedia aren't interested! Perhaps they will be when I cancel my account?
