  • 2ltr Ford Pinto, Webber Carbs, info

Just looking into starting on my Jago Geep Kit Car, its been stood for two years without the engine being run, it has no wiring, dashboard, etc, but it does have the engine and drive train and the engine does turn by hand, i need to find a suitable starter solenoid (if anyone has one) but what i really need is a electronic copy of the ford manual for the engine and the electrics, anyone know where i can download on, or get a really cheap Haynes manual.

Tried this one a while ago but must of the "latest posts" are from 2006, so i didn't think it was worth asking too many questions

More interested in the engine, gearbox and carburetters, the shell itself is already built up on a rolling chassis so primarily need to get the engine running and electrics sorted.

Yes, unfortunately all the cars that had the Pinto, are no longer on the road and finding them at the scrap yard is like looking for Rocking horse do do, I've been on the look out for quite a while.

Siarra, Cortina, Escort RS2000, Granada and some Transits, I think

More interested in the ancillary bits rather than the engine itself, thats if mine still works, all i have is a bare engine and gearbox.

Twin engined Jago, that might be interesting.

ask my pals at www.locostbuilders.co.uk .

they'll surely help out. I'm building lotus 7 replica with a pinto etc,a nd they've been brilliant. (plus people are often chucking stuff out, so can either supply it or at least point you in the right direction). Plus the fact there's loads of people on there, so you'll get a swift response.

                  hope it helps!

                  Martin

PS. you're not using webber dcoe carbs are you? I just sold my brand new 45's and bought some motor bike carbs instead. far more compact, far easier to tune, runs great, plus i sold the webbers for £470, and bought the bike set up for £150!! Also look into 'megajolt' for the pinto. cost about 70 and a bit of work, but gives you a faully mapable ignition system
Just trying to raise my postcount!
