If you can get the hoist parts from a 2nd gen i should'nt think it'd be to difficult to rig up, the hoist fixes with four bolts and the right angled winder mech has two bolts, if you made a reinforceing plate the same size as the hoist i should think ya could bolt it straight to the floor pan (plate on the inside,) then you'd need some brackets to center the wheel and stop it sliding about, you could always add some straps as a safegard, sort of "X" on the wheel

There is a great big X member on the 3rd gen with wot looks like the place for the winch to mount . The 2nd gen winch appears to small for the bolt holes of the 3rd gen X member . The 3rd gen has 16" rims and 275/70 tyres as standard so maybe they give the 3rd gen a larger winch to lift up the weight of the spare ?? I did suggest to Joe in a PM that maybe a Landcruiser one may fit as they share the same chassis .Rick...Member of 1st Gen club. ONE LIFE ... GET ONE !!
