  • Ford Ranger

At the risk of a barage of abuse,

Does anyone know where i can get any tech info on the rangers, ive had a look on the net and can't find any uk based forums they all seem to be usa modding sites.

I want to do the timming belt and find out what sort of milage the engines are capable of before they die.

The belt actually looks a lot more accessible than the surf

Anybody had any experiance with them cheers

Cheers Rich i will have a look. Trouble is it's still american based and all there trucks seem to be modded plastic and petrol and they will probably laugh at a standard 2.5 diesel. If they have ever seen one at all

The 2.5 engine is, of course, a mazda one
Change interval is 60k miles and is staightforward really.
I can try to get a Ranger data disc if you want, Ford only supplied Ranger info on cd and you have to trawl through i to locate what you need.
What have I told you about thinking Erroll

We've replaced only two engines so far.....that was around 70k......one guy knew it used oil (as they do) but didn't bother to top it up after taking around 2 tons worth of live fish (in a tank) up the motorway.
I think the other one managed to swallow a glow-plug tip.

Other than that, they seem pretty bomb-proof engines really, as long as you service them regularly (every 6k)

Like all Jap based 4x4 vehicles, transmission/diff oils should be changed (at strangley irregular intervals)
