  • Dual Tank fuel return issue

Hi I have a 97 3L td ssrx and am fitting a dual tank set up with a 3 way valve and heat exchanger.

The question relates to when running on the additional diesel tank during start up and shut down. The standard Hilux plumbing returns excess fuel from the injector pump back to the main fuel tank. When running on diesel, this will drain the smaller diesel tank more quickly as the excess fuel will be returned to the veg oil in the main tank.

So I am thinking of returning the fuel back to the line between the fuel filter and the injector pump inlet instead of going back to the main tank.

Does anyone see any problems with this?

    Thanks

No problem doing that, there were some concerns with air locks but if ya vent it while running via an air bleed valve or loosen a connection on initial set up you'll be ok, plus your reuseing already warmed up fuel,
the alternatives are fit another three port valve and switch ya returns in sync with the main three port, or fit a small swirl tank and run em to that
Too young to die and too old to give a toss
