    i hear people say the 3ltr surf is bullit proof.
    my second surf now needs a new head !

    I think it's because they're just geting old now. I must admit i've not been seeing any of this 'legendary toyota reliability' with mine recently but then again they are 13 or more years old now so I guess we have to cut them some slack.

        got mine like new
        untill i got it

        but mines 16 years old now and iam just replaceing the parts it was biult with from new
        every part i replaced has stud the test of time and abuse
        except the rad had a few of those
        am not die lex sick its you that cant read mate

          Mines is still going strong, bought it 2-3 years ago with a small oil leak, Still has small oil leak, used off road regularly, only probs i have had has been due to my own fault, Good old Mr Toyota. Cant be bothered doing the maths, its an H reg pre facelift.

            As mentioned above, they're not unreliable. A vehicle will only be as good as its maintenance, however. Plus, us 2.4 lot have been saying for yonks that the 3 Litre heads aren't bullet proof.
