not sure wot car hes got . is that all he needs to replace
should be,check it is that tho first, put a multimeter on his battery, above 14.5v or below 13.5v its knackered, but be warned it aint gonna be cheap if its a late french car on or bouts 200 quid.
On a side note,i know most dont read but in most french car manuals from about 2001 its says in very bold print "dont jump start from your battery"
just for refrence so you can tell him alot of cars are getting these alternators now,in a nutshell the alternator decides wot charge it should put to the battery,ie more with lights heater etc on,then cuts back when needed, but if u jump from it it cooks the little black box on the side, and most normally put out close to 16v volts then, and boiling the battery, and they cant be refurbed either
ok thanks a lot i did tell him to try the batt from his car that way he would know if its the batt or alt so he went out and bought a new batt ???????????then when it went flat got his m8 to come out and give him a jump should have listened to his old man
