  • Another with a very bad day

    Hi all,
My youngest son aged 24 has just been flown to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital by air ambulance after having a very nasty accident with an Artic, he was driving a Peugeot 306 diesel when he was confronted with an artic coming round a blind bend on a small country lane near here. The only problem was the road surface is covered in mud from where the local farmers/hauliers have been carting sugar beet. He tried to avoid the artic but lost all steering control on the filthy surface and hit the truch a mighty blow on the N/S. He is now being attended to at the N&N but thankfully it seems like his injurys are not life threatning. What a day!!!
All I have to do now is find my mate with his big front loader to come and lift the wreckage onto my recovery trailer, then next stop will be the scrappy.

Hope he makes a full recovery mate, sounds like he was lucky, a 306 against an artic does'nt bare thinking about.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Many thanks everyone for your good wishes, Robert, my son has asked me to also say thanks to you all for your good wishes, it is very much appreciated. Just an update, he is ok apart from a lot of bruising, thank God for seatbelts and airbags.
The 306 is a total writeoff, looking at it, it is amazing he got out alive!!, if I can work out how to do it I will post some pics of it, it was so badly damaged I had to recruit the help of a farmer friend of mine to physically lift it onto my recovery trailer with a big front end loader.
The truck he hit was a DAF 38 tonne, according to the driver he was only traveling at 15 to 20MPH but he did manage to leave a set of skidmarks 15 to 20 metres long!!
Once again a big thanks from me and Robert for your knid thoughts, I know now which charity I will do the most to raise money for, and that's the Air Ambulance, they were fantastic, words fail me in an effort to praise them enough, not forgetting the rest of the emergency services, everyone was so kind and helpful.
A big thanks to you all, and especially anyone on here who is a member of the emergency services, you all do a fantastic job, THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart, I thought I had lost my baby at 24 years old, that is a hell of a scary thought !!
Best wishes to all on here, John & Robert.

Glad things came out all right for your son. I went through a similar thing with my eldest a few months back and know how worrying it can be.

Main thing is he is ok, car can be replaced easily but not the lad.
