As I plan to go offroading at some point I thought I'd change the diff breathers for extended tube breathers, I did the rear no problem but I can't see the front one, anyone know where it is positioned on the front diff?

    Cheers

It's on the top, just to the left as you look at it from the front - but it is a bugger to get to....and to replace with an extended one too..

Thank you, I'll have another go at it in the week, the ones that are going in are 90 degree angled, I'll feed the pipe up through the engine bay & through the bulkhead, that should ensure that it doesn't get water in, the rear one was easy as I put it up through the floor & put rubber hose on it where it is likely to rub, there is enough pipe that it will flex & be enough to do the body lift without having to change it.

With the angles & the plastic pipe it has cost less than £10.

Bl00dy hell, it looks like you could eat your dinner off that diff, are we looking at that from the rear? I can't get orientated.

The front breather is a hell of a lot easier with a body lift done as it gives that extra bit of room to move.

once the 2" bodylift is done you can actually put a straight union in for the breather and the pipe onto that as i have done.
If you only have 1.5" body lift it will be tight to fit the straight union

In that case I might leave the front until the body lift has been done.

Yeah! thats from the front, as said it's a whole lot easier with a body lift, i used a push fit straight fitting with a angled lenght of 8mm copper micro bore and come off that with 8mm id silicon tubeing, i've yet to do the one on the gearbox, the rear ones easy and i teed the fuel tank breather into that one,

Okay, 'numb nuts', question time. Why do you need to extend the breathers on the aforementioned parts?

I didn't even think about the fuel & gearbox breathers, I'll have to get some more connections.

If you go into water above your axle you could get water into the diff/gearbox through the breathers, apparently thats not good.

So if you extend them to above the air intake that sould keep em dry
