  • Lotus Elan

I just went to see my mum in the countryside and thought it would be fun to take a Lotus Elan (90s, not 60s) from my club and drive around some of the back roads. Needless to say, my pants are now full of shit.

What a machine, 1.6 litre engine and a sub seven second 0-60 time. I can barely see any more, the thing bounced about that much.

Anyway, it's unbelievably noisy, the interior is from 1985 and there was water coming in around the windscreen but it was certainly a giggle....

    Marvelous.
When you take the Mustang out, could you pop over to south Wales in it?

Go and change your pants as they must be getting crusty by now.

Crap in what way? As I said, very noisy and not exactly luxurious or modern, but the handling and power delivery are incredible.

            Club details are here:

A friend of mine used to have a left hand drive one of them. It had a rattle that drove him mad, so one day we went for a drive with me in the passenger seat upside down trying to find the rattle. He drove like a ####, I got very dizzy, and all the cars we passed looked horrified to see a pair of legs where the driver should be (apparently- I couldn't see that bit)
turned out to be the wiper blade tapping on the windscreen.
              Nice apart from that....
              it's in me shed, mate.
