i've just bought a desktop off a fella at work and it doesn't have any wifi... so, can i connect it to my laptop via ethernet cable and use the wifi through that??

If they both have a network port (RJ45)... then yes...
Crossover cable... between the two devices...
Then set up internet connection sharing (ICS) on the laptop...
Now you have two machine powered up...
Easier to get a wi-fi dongle for the desktop, and map in your wireless router.Comment
