  • Ouch!!

Went on the Four Wheel Drive Club challenging laning day on Saturday which was by far the best days laning I've had so far. some amazing moments and leaning over so far it seemed incredible that the Surf stayed upright. Kept up with all the other 4x4's including having to pull up a Paj with a locker through some bits the Surf breezed through.

Last lane had stony banks on either side that the back slid into, made a sickening crunching noise and the only way was to go forwards and listen to the metal grind and my rear side window pop

Whats everyones thoughts on whether I can just fit a new window without getting it panel beaten? It has dented the surround at the back but then when you look at the window and fittings theres about an inch or so of plastic (and the vented bit at the rear) before you actually get to the glass.

What do you think? Damn things getting more dents/character than my old hatch back that my girlfriend drove like a bumper car.

    Was fun day though

If the surround's not bent then you should be able fit new glass, if it is you cant without straight ing it up,
the joys of off roading eh?

mm i'd get a hammer and beat it out a little so you could put a new window in.

The windows are bolted and glued in ......when we took steins out we undid the bolts and the used a sharp knife to cut the bonding
i think sledge is right and you will need to do some pannel beating

I would smash the other side out and weld sheet metal in place and spray them up to match the truck. On the inside, glue carpet or similar to neaten it up and stop vibration.

easy solution would be to fill me with good quality coffee, whilst i raise the suspension...therefore missing the damaging stuff
                  Non intercooled nothing.

If you're gonna be doing the hardcore stuff, saves littering the countryside with broken glass that my dog might cut his paw on.
