i sussed this long ago.
if you want to start a new topic, put one letter in the title and message fields then click submit.

then go into that post and edit the title and message fields to whatever you want.

its best to write the new thread in notepad first so you can quickly copy and paste, otherwise people will be wondering what the hell you are doing

i dont mind being a co driver i am use to reading maps albeit ones at sea!!!!! same thing though isnt it
