Steering wobble

Steering wobble about 30 upwards, All seemed fine until i fitted free wheeling hubs. could this be the fact that the half shaft is now disengaged and could be worn or is my head in the clouds as per usual? Please share knowledge with me. I have researched with the search button before anyone says, just thought id ask the obvious first

Does the wobble disappear above a certain speed or remain once anywhere above 30?

It tends to stay but is not as bad at higher speeds i.e 60-70, its worst is around 30-40

Like a vibrator with a supercharger

sell it quick on ebay and make that point very clear...you'll get a fortune for it!
check simple things first - tyres ok? no egg bulges or anything?

Na, the wobble started as soon as i put the hubs on and drove it off the drive, noticed a bit play in the shaft and wondered if thats wot it would be as i have another shaft here sitting

Check the play on the steering idler - if there is any, change it!

Check the power steering fluid, and maybe get a tube of that stuff that renews the seals etc.

Check the bolts are all done up right too - especially on the wheels....

Dunno were the idler is? and dunno what seals to renew? come on mate av been on here long enough for u to know im thick LOL Show or telll me where they are and al check

Passenger side, front, in front of the wheel there is a backwards L shaped thingy, that's the idler - check it for excessive play.

The wheel nuts are those big nutty shaped things that hold the wheel onto the car...

Power steering fluid - little can shaped thing inside the engine bay with power steering fluid written on the top - check to see if there is enough in it

If you see leaks under the front, it may not be oil, it could be power steering fluid....

If your idler arm is an aftermarket one, then you can service it by putting grease on/in it....

On way out now, wish me luck, always wondered what that L shaped thing was, Going out equiped with a 21mm socket and a pair o bare hands, wish me luck. cheers mate, will report back with my findings after work, if it is the idler is that a bad thing or is it ok to run like that?

You can drive with a buggered idler, but it will start to feel like wrestling a fitting wheel shaped midget...

Ok Latest result, wheel's never fell off and Idler is fine, fluids all fine so ????

When you drive the truck slowly, like walking pace slowly, does the front of the truck wobble sideways a little? If it does, you've got a buckled wheel or tyre or a wheel not fitted properly.

Was Speaking to george on the scottish forum and he suggested swapping the front and rear wheels so am gonna do that today Hey Andy thats the first answer you have ever given me without a sarky comment, Hmm u must be getting used to me, either that or u pure and simply just forgot to be smart LOL
