I have just bought a 1992 Hilux Surf 2.4 diesel automatic and think it great although looking at this site i am worried by the amount of cooling problems people seem to be having.

Hope i have bought good motor.

dont woory too much matey thats why we are here
just keep an eye on ya temp for a while till ya get used to ya new truck
just make sure the rad is full then just keep topping up the small water tank
keep hold of this site mate it save ya time on most things ya like to know about

It's not so much that the coolant systems are troublesome, but rather the fact that people tend to forget they are 15+ years old and require servicing and maintenance. The lifespan of radiators, ATF, rubber hoses, thermostats, rad caps and coolant are limited. Servicing it thoroughly now will save you the possibility of preventable pain further down the line.
