    Hi

I guess this is where I have to post until I get told the secret handshake!

I am looking at a Surf at the moe and just need a little advice(Yes I know new users always do this!)

Its a '92 2.4TD auto and all seams quite well with it as far as I can tell being a 4x4 virgin, but the only thing thats concerning me is....

On the test drive we took it to a bit of waste land to check the 4x4 out and crusied round there no probs until we tried to change back outa 4x4. Even the dodgy car salesman had to ring his boss to get us going. He was trying to get me to disengage the 4x4 by moving the little gearshifter and then driving forwards and then backwards to break the connection(?) but we kinda ended up in a no drive kinda situation...

Is there a knack to doing this or is it a car I should stay away from?

very rare we touch the little gear shifter unless we have to as that puts it in h4 or l4. have or did you press the button on the side of the autogear/drive stick? thats what we normally press for 4 wheel drive.most would say dont go for a 2.4 n go for a 3L instead as its a better allrounder. im sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon to say
