Can't see what all the fuss regarding the vehicle being described as a 4 x 4 is all about. I've read dozens of similar accident reports and they either involved a bus, a van, a sports car, a lorry or a 4 x 4. It's a generic description nowadays. I think some people are becoming a little paranoid when a 4 x 4 is mentioned in a bad light.

What were they supposed to say in the report, 'a mysterious vehicle'?

A baby was killed when a car driven by a drunk/drugged driver mounted the pavement????????????

I'm not paranoid at all, I've got both, a gas guzzler and a 4X4 f*ck 'em!
I just didn't like the way the media worded the story to make it sound as though we (4X4 drivers) are all dangerous drivers as well as tearing up and killing the planet.

In no way was I trying to deflect the horror of a child being killed. My comment purely centred on the fact that some people overreact when a 4 x 4 is reported in a negative way.

My comments are also based on the report featured in the link in the first post of this thread. In no way can that report be deemed as being anti 4 x 4 or worded to make out as if all 4 x 4 drivers are dangerous. All it quotes is that, 'a 4 x 4 hit the kerb and mounted the pavement'.

I have not read any other reports nor watched the incident on the news so I can't comment on how other forms of the media portrayed the 4 x 4 driving community.
