Hello mate
I've had a two surfs an a land rover discovery 300tdi ES.
Im now 21 an my current surf has sh!t loads of modifications.
First of all i went to www.aquote.co.uk - wasn't cheap. First lot of insurance was £1600. Then i sold the surf an got a disco which was £3000 (so i sold it after a few months!!)
an then back to a surf (the black one above) insurance was £1500 an then last year was £850 with all mods. This year coming is abotu £700 with all mods.
the 4 figure quotes were all at aquote.
the cheaper ones were with Adrian flux. Give them a call an sort it out.
If your driving a corsa, Enjoy it before it goes.
I had a fiesta 1.3 as my first car an it was great on fuel. £26 (at the time) to fill it up an in the few months i drove it i never used a full tank of petrol.
The first surf cost be about £10 just to drive it home
But trust me.... there awesome!!!

In fairness, most insurance companys are wise nowadays.
If you say "Hello, im insuring a japanese import 4x4 an i want my 17 year old son insured on it"
they will probably tell your Dad to get lost!!
I wanted to add my dad to my policy just 'incase' he needed to drive it!!
I was warned against it unless it was nessesary as i would be 'stung'
also, little tip!
Get 3rd party fire & theft.
My dad got insured on my old fiesta before it was sold an he just asked for 3rd party only an it was over £500!!!!
It was f**k all when he moved it to 3rd party, fire & theft.
Its a stange thing, almost like... the higher the level of cover the more likely you are to look after the damn thing!

I haven't called Adrian Flux yet, just tried their online quote system
They offer decent discounts for limited mileage policys an if i were you, I'd check out there website an join a club thats releated an offers insurance discounts with him.
Every little helps.
I can see how an expensive estate would mean you get high insurance. Unless they expect you to be offering lifts to the local footballers.

I remember getting silly quotes when i started driving, most expensive was just under £7000 for a 1.1 ford fiesta and it was over 10 years old! in the end the cheapest i could get was a little over £3000 which i had to pay as i needed a car for work.
I then found out that it would have been cheaper to insure a large diesel family estate like a Volvo. I was told that this was because not many boy racers drive diesel family estate cars.
Give Adrian Flux a call and see what they can offer.
I don't think you will get insurance for less than £3000. for a surf of a fiesta.
Just stick it out and get some no claims years and it will soon drop.
I have a 3 Ltr 3Gen, fully comp, off road cover, and protected no claims etc £600. Thats with 5 years no claims and driving.
Oh and you will knock your car at least once in you first years driving, at least with a surf it will only dent/scratch but a pug etc will just fall apart.
good luckIf it can be broken it can be fixed
