  • hmmm i could get caried away!!

    Hi,

I'm in need of some new tyres (and have been for the last 6 months), but wonder if i should take advantage of getting a full set and go a bit crazy.

i was gonna get some 31's as the rest of the car is standard, but then i think - why not get a bit of a lift and fit 33's?

so just wondering how much this bit of lunacy might cost me.

do i just need a body lift, or shall i do it all at once? how much effort is doing a 2" body and 2" sus lift? can anyone in cheshire help me, cos i have few tools and even less skills!

or should i just buy the bfg at's in 31" and forget being silly?

    Martin

Once you have all the bits and provided you don't snap anything (it's not the end of the world) it's only a days work for 2.

you dont need this with manual hubs, but you may want extended brake lines.

total cost about £ 500 quid. new set of 33's on top of that..depends on which ones you get. its possible to do the whole lot on about £1000-£1100

                I would get...

2" lift springs from Roughtrax http://www.roughtrax4x4.com/?doc=16&cid=155&vid=376
                2" body lift £100 MAX
                tweak the torsion bars £FREE
an if needed fit extended brake lines.

4" all round lift. a set of Maxxis buckshot mudders are cheap as chips for a 33x12.50 http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...6b0s1676p13068

That would be a VERY cheap way of doing things if your a little unsettled about cost.

Then when you want to/can afford to etc get some +2" shocks an if needed the extended brake lines.

I reckon for a basic 'get 33s under', you could do it for less than £250. If you want comfort as well, add another ~£200 for longer shocks. So yeah, Gra is about right with his £500 estimate for a basic 5" combined sus and body lift.

All dead easy to do, and well within the scope of the average DIYer.
