  • Has someone hacked away at my centre console - pic

    i removed the el-cheapo jvc stereo from my recently aquired surf, i have an expensive alpine head unit i want to fit, lo and behold when i pulled out the stereo and the little tray my console looks like this, would i be right in thinking some kind soul has chopped a lot of it away

    maybe ill just fit a tv in there

        nope thats not standard, some have double din units in some have a stereo and cubby hole.

                        Anyway, Whilst it is a mahoosive hole an that aint normally a good thing, get a double DIN unit which is basically one 'phat' cd player that takes up twice the size for no real reason... an then a lil cubby box thing from halfords.


                        Judging by the top of it it looks like that the previous owner didnt realise the dash needs to come apart to get a cd player in.

                        In fairness my old surf was hacked to bits to get one in...

                          yeah i dont think the mdf idea would look very good.

                          i have a decent alpine mp3/cd player that i want to fit it cost me £300 a couple of years ago, its a single din and i would rather use that.

                          im puzzled why does the dash need to be stripped to fit a stereo when there is a hole there what more do you need, although there is nothing behind there to support the back of the stereo which is not good.

                            Forget about stereo's and the like. Get your self over to Drumclog in the morning for a play in the mud.

                              do you guys have a meeting arranged for tomorrow, i was intending to try some off road fun in my surf, i have seen the 4x4's up at drumclog as i go there occasionally on my motocross bike. looks like fun, would a standard surf manage the course at drumclog with road tyres
