I WISH! FROM THE DESK OF.

    FIRST ATLANTIC MERCHANT BANK.
My dear, when does a bloke call me dear! i'll put his lights out
I write to seek your services in a private
confidential matter regarding the late Adam A Smith from
your country who died leaving some funds unclaimed in
our bank without any beneficiary.I am aware that you
might not be related to him but i want you to stand as
the beneficiary and i will fill you in since i have
all the details for the transfer proper. This requires
a private arrangement.Could you perhaps be able to
receive these funds under legal claims then I will
fill you in.I am willing to pay a generous management
and transfer fees and your participation.30%

I will need you in legal capacity to stand as his
beneficiary.I have all the details and will fill you
in if you are really willing. Your major role would be
to open a bank account where the funds will be
    transferred.

All correspondences will be via email, for now.The
funds in question are quite large (about $26M). I will
expect a straight answer from you. Yes or no. If yes,
then let's work out the modalities and a brief profile
of your person is expected. All further correspondence
should be at this mail box.
    Closing with anticipation.

Wow I would check it really is a scam first before you turn down that sort of money.

        Don't do it Marky!!!

Eventually they will ask for your bank details to transfer some of that lovely 26M, and guess what, they will just empty your account!

We had a similar letter to this at work last week from somewhere in Africa.

I guess from the title of your thread you know it's a scam, but this has been going on for some years now, so some people must fall for it.

I got one of these offers by email. I managed to pay my mortgage off, buy my Surf and pack up work. I can take as many holidays as I want now, not worry about the bills, feed and clothe the family with all the best gear and generally put my feet up and not worry about a thing.

This type of con is used more often than you would think, the other favorites are the chemical coated money and I need to hide my money from the corrupt government will you help me, these and others were devised and come mainly from Lagos and yes there really are some people who still believe a free lunch exists.
If you must make contact just tell the idiot at the other end no, I have heard stories of people getting into deep water by trying to be clever, its not worth it.
I have been to Nigeria and work for a major player in the banking world, I have seen most of the scams out there including the one where a drugy sticks a barrel up your nostril, funnily enough I went along with that one for some reason, trust me the only money you will get is worked for, one way or the other...............
