special edition 3rd gen - info please

looking to buy a surf and i have my eye on a few all of which are hundreds and hundreds of miles away.

i have seen a surf for sale and its a special edition, silver all over, no bull bars and underslung spare and it has a different front bumper and grill.

was it just cosmetic differences to these surfs ? how does it compare to and ssrg or ssrx, is it classed as a better buy or more desireable ?

as im so far away i have to make my decision on one and go get it so i do my best at asking the right things, apart from the usual questions when looking for any car what should i ask thats specific to the 3rd gen surf 3.0td

UNBADGED - Special Edition Toyota Surf 3.0 litre Turbo diesel , walnut dash but no rear spoiler. underslung spare wheel, which is a bonus as ill want to carry my motocross bike on a bike rack which bolts onto the towbar so having the spare underneath is a huge bonus.

guys would you consider this more desirable as me thinks it looks great

It looks like a silver 3rd gen with shiny wheels and the badge taken off the front. Nothing wrong with that though. If you like it,the price is right and it's a sound motor, buy it.

i have 4 that i have my eye on, and as im in scotland i have to travel very far so i need to decide which one i want then go get it and hope everything is sound with the surf when i get there, so i try and make my choice by asking loads of questions and getting lots of close up pics.

this one has been serviced every year with its mot while in the uk and has 98000 miles, new exhaust and 2 new front tyres, i also like the dark blue over silver but i think this silver one looks classier although i like bullbars and big spots but i could add them later on.

heres the others im keen on, i like them all, but i think the red one is my least fav colour but it looks well looked after

you reckon, its not just the shade at a different angle


It was apparently built to order for its original owner. It is, I believe a similar spec to the SSRX, but not at all sure.
