OK, anyone done it?

Ive been looking at http://www.importedvehicles.co.uk/ and they have a formula for uk costs... and I can't work it out.

Anyone car to spread some light on the subject:

Landed price calculation:

[{(FOB Price ¥/Yen exchange rate) + (gross volume of vehicle m3 * USD 69/Dollar exchange rate)} * 1.1* 1.175] + any incidentals such as clearance/SVA/registration etc


My yen price is 920,000.00

How about an excel spreadsheet?!

Your FOB price is usually about 80,00 yen, and sea freight is $69 a square metre, mine came to about £800. Once it gets here the customs will add all that to the price of the vehicle, add 10% import surcharge, and then charge VAT at 17.5% on that total. You need the original invoice to clear it.

Fob price ( which includes dealers cost to move car to japanese port )
920,000y @ 188y/£=4893 pounds plus 800 pounds shipping to UK add
together @ 5693pounds then add 35 percent for import duty,vat and
customs clearance@ 1992pounds Total cost to get car into UK 7685
pounds, then car needs SVA (depending on year ) MOT and registering.

Hope this equation helps I've used same a couple of times now and is
pretty accurate. Cheers Steve.

So I am not looking at saving 'that' much in comparison.. I've seen p-reg's for around 8k in the UK... awww its all sooo complicated. I can't wait to get mine!

When I eventually get round to buying a lottery ticket and I win something, it'll be a different story!
