gen2 v gen3 mpg?

ok so what makes a gen 3 surf so much more effecient than a gen2?
i read on here some get 30+ mpg out of thier gen3 while i, and i gather its the norm struggle to break 22mpg?
i'm almost temted to get one for the better fuel economy.

im reasonably sure its possible to get 30 mpg +..... by lying.i have a 2.4 and it does 43 mpg and im lying....easy huh !!

i had a 2nd gen which used to do 17mpg now own a 3rd gen that does 39mpg ,
