water temp. gauge help.

Right,

need help with a water temp. gauge.
Got the gauge but it doesn't work. Wires dont go anywhere an there is no sender unit.

Can any one advise where i can get the parts to get it sorted. Think, aftermarket addition type thing.

Its not on the surf btw.

Just type temp sender in the search box on Ebay, a plethora of units will appear.

Also found a smart digital water temp guage that i might be tempted with the for the Surf.

the temperature sender / sensor is earthed through the engine.
so, one wire goes from the gauge to the sender, and if there is no resistance at all (meaning grounded) then the temp is maximum! and if there is high resistance (cold engine) then the gauge will say cold. as the sender heats up, the resistance lowers and the gauge goes up.

so when you get a sender, it will only have a place for one wire. and make sure the engine earth is good
