Autobox information

Folks, I'm trying to gather info on the autobox in the 1994 KZN130 as I want to revisit something I was thinking about a while ago, that being limited manual override.

I know there's add on ECUs available, but, depending on how the box works, it might be a lot simpler than changing ECUs to do what I want to acheive.

Anyway, any links, pointers, diagrams etc, please post them here. Ta muchly!

If they are already online, just post links if thats easier for you. I'm particularly interested in how the valves are actuated electrically, and how TC lockup is actuated.

Once I know that, the logic should be reasonably simple.

i wanted to find out how to manually make the gearbox lockup into its final gear, so that i could do this earlier than it wanted to, and prevent it from unlocking so that you could use the powerband of the engine where you need it, and hopefully save some fuel.

The solenoids are grounded through the trans casing, and 12v is applied to each one to activate it.
I have all wiring diagrams on CD.

The guys on the ozzie site have been looking at a lockup mod, from what i've read it looks like you can achieve manual lockup but connecting a switch to the correct wire going into the 4wd ecu.

Not sure that i fully understand it but from what i've read guys are getting better mpg and better performance towing.

Thats an excellent thread. Thanks for posting it. It seems you can build a 'rough' system from nothing more than a switch. I think I might see if I can develop a failsafe so you cant accidentally leave it in lock up to very low speeds, as that does seem to be an issue.

For those A road trips where you're bumbling along between 50 and 60mph, and the lock is dropping in and out, it would be a fantastic mod, saving fuel and ATF!
