... and it got me thinking, how much work is involved in swapping this diff into one of our rear axles? And what ratios are these diffs available in? Could be a cheap way of getting a rear locker of sorts.

Offroad.com has a good write up on the wiring and fitting e-lockers to normal 8" rears.

It dosn't say waht ratio it is, so you may may need to regear it.
